We’re lucky enough in Queenstown to have a wonderful variety of cafes, restaurants and bars. Both Queenstown and Arrowtown boast some of the most unique fine dining restaurants as well as some of the best coffee and burgers in New Zealand!

Dining is such an important part of your wedding getaway and we want to make sure you know the best places to go. Central Otago is well known for its wine, amazing local produce and a huge range of cuisine – from fabulous New Zealand fare to fresh seafood and delicious ethnic eats.

Begin your day at one of Queenstown’s great cafes, enjoy a laid back hearty breakfast or stay healthy with a beautiful smoothie bowl, chia pot, and fresh juice.  Of course, the baristas at each of these places pride themselves in fantastic coffee.

Vudu Larder | Bespoke Kitchen | Joes Garage | No5 Church Lane

If you’re keen to make the most of your time and take in the magical views, grab a smooth coconut flat white, an almond croissant from Fergbaker or Patagonia and stroll along the lakefront, and around the Queenstown Gardens. Whatever the season, a walk in the fresh air with Lake Wakatipu as your backdrop will be sure to wake you up!

If you’re staying out of central Queenstown you may like to avoid the drive into town and head to Franks Eatery (if it’s busy try their little brother café Franks Pantry which is just down the street).

Or wander across the road to The Landing precinct where you’ll find one of our personal treasures, Odelay. Here you can choose from the selection of cabinet food (which includes raw and vegan goodies) to the tasty menu offering good old eggs benny and buttermilk pancakes.

When it comes to lunch spots in town, there are some lovely places where you can dine with just your loved one or your entire family group. Whether you’re craving ramen, whitebait fritters or a huge salad … here are our favourites:

Yonder | Tanoshi | White + Wongs | Botswana Butchery | Madam Woo | Ivy + Lolas

Venture out of town and explore – enjoy wine tasting in a garden setting or a round of golf before a beautiful shared lunch, surrounded always by mountains and stunning scenery.

Kinross | Jacks Point Clubhouse | Akarua Wines + Kitchen by Artisan

Let’s not forget gorgeous Arrowtown, where you can grab yourself a famous Arrowtown pie and custard square from the bakery or a burger from Slow Cuts, both equally naughty but so damn good!

Walk off your lunch by exploring the Chinese Village, a memorial to Central Otago’s Chinese settlers and onto the Arrow river track.

Evening Queenstown dining options are endless, take the time to check menus as most change seasonally. Consider using your hotel transfers as parking in town can sometimes be difficult. Some of our current top picks that simply won’t disappoint are:

Amisfield | La Rumbla | Jervois Steakhouse | The Grille by Eichardts | Bazaar | Pier | Rata | Flame

Later, settle in for a nightcap at a cosy wine bar – The Lodge Bar, Bardeaux or Upstairs at The Bunker all have an intimate vibe which will make you feel right at home.

The Sundeck guys make delicious cocktails, tapas and always have great live music. The perfect spot to meet friends!
